Welcome back, Solons! We are excited for you to join us back in the music classroom! We have lots of things planned for this year and we can't wait to make music with you!
Choir
The choir is working to hopefully have concerts this year! Our first event will be the Annual Veterans concert on November 10th @ 9:00 AM. Depending on COVID restrictions at the time we will determine if it is ok to have an audience. If an audience is approved we love to see our past and present veterans joining us for this concert. If we are not allowed to have an audience we will live stream the concert through the school's CMNewz youtube. Stay tuned for more information.
Exploring Music
Exploring music is our new nonperforming music class at CMS! Students are currently learning about ensembles and instrument families. Through the year they will learn about musical styles and genres ranging from the 1900s to modern times.
Musical Theatre
The Musical Theatre classes are in full swing working on music and choreography for the end-of-semester concert. Students are working on flexibility and vocal health while learning lyrics and steps to Matilda the Musicals "Revolting Children". Hopefully, you are hearing them singing and dancing to the upbeat song around your house at night.
Orchestra
Orchestra is gearing up for a year of rebuilding and revitalizing. When surveyed, students commented that they are excited to share music stands with their friends again. Students are looking forward to what pieces they will play and how it will feel to perform for a live audience. They're also interested in finding out how much they will grow this year. We will have concerts on Oct. 19, Dec. 7, Mar. 8, and May 24 at 6:30 pm at the Carson City Community Center. The NZNMEA Honor Orchestra concert will be 10:00 am at the Community Center.
